Performance Group

Created by Sarah Weber Gallo, Performance Group is the hallmark curriculum at MST Dance Academy.   

Invited students meet twice a week to learn the art and techniqes of choreography.  Students bring their unique talents and visions to this class as they collaborate to create unique works of dance theatre.  Choreographic contributions of Performance Group students are featured in the Midwinter production, wherein they perform as soloists and demisoloists.  They also perform a separate concert during the Spring Recital, presenting their original works to the community, as well as representing SWG Dance Academy in events sponsored by Dance New Jersey and elsewhere.

This curriculum is designed to get students to think like artists and have agency over their performance, and the advanced Performance Group students are already creating college-level work as young teenagers.  Instilled with the values of ensemble building and collaboration and the ability to articulate and execute their unique artistic visions, Performance Group students emerge well-poised to become positive leaders in the field of dance.
