This program for grades 4-7 takes students on an in-depth exploration of the Lotus pinnatus, a local flower that thrives in Nanaimo’s spring season. Through this study, learners will dive into the science of plant life, covering topics like photosynthesis, pollination, and the environmental factors that influence growth. By observing the Lotus pinnatus’ bloom, students will understand the connection between seasonal changes and plant development. Hands-on activities and nature walks will encourage critical thinking, helping students grasp how local ecosystems function and the role flowers play in sustaining wildlife. This program fosters a deeper understanding of springtime renewal and ecological balance.
