NANAIMO SCIENCE AND SUSTAINABILTY SOCIETY TERMS and CONDITIONS

Release of Liability: Nanaimo Science is preparing a variety of scientific projects, experiments and field trips for program participants, and activities of this type expose the participants to elements of risk. Accidents may occur while participating in these activities which may cause injury. Examples of injuries which may occur include: i) sports related injuries from participating in games and activities; and/or ii) cuts from sharp objects or cutting utensils. The Nanaimo Science employees have been trained in First Aid. We will take all necessary and appropriate safety precautions and will attempt to minimize any associated risks. Accidents can be the result of the nature of the activity and can occur without any fault on either the part of the participant, or Nanaimo Science or its employees or agents, or the facility where the activity is taking place. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you are accepting the risk of accident occurring, you give your child/ward permission to participate in Nanaimo Science’s programs and you agree to waive any and all claims against Nanaimo Science and its agents and release and indemnify Nanaimo Science and agents from any and all liability for injury, death, property damage, or any other loss sustained by the participant or the participants’ next of kin as a result of participation in Nanaimo Science programs. In case of accident or illness, if a parent or guardian cannot be reached, we will take your child to the emergency ward of the nearest hospital. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you grant your authorization for emergency health services.

Cancellation, Withdrawal, and Refunds:

Nanaimo Science reserves the right to cancel a program one week prior to the start date, and will refund all fees for a cancelled program.

Customer cancellations or changes must be requested in writing. Any change will be subject to a $25 administrative fee for each child/registration. Cancellations/withdrawals requests submitted 14 days or more prior to the program start will be eligible for a full refund, less the administrative fee. Cancellations/withdrawals requests submitted 7-13 days prior to the program start will be eligible for a 50% refund, less the administrative fee. Cancellations/withdrawals requests with less than 7 days notice will not be eligible for any refund. There are no pro-rated program fees for days absent from a registered program.

Nanaimo Science reserves the right to expel any student, without refund of fees, who behaves inappropriately, is disruptive to other students, volunteers or staff, or becomes a danger to themselves or others.

Nanaimo Science will not assume responsibility for children before or after Nanaimo Science ’s programs. A $25 late pick-up fee may be charged. Repeated late pick-ups can result in cancelled participation without refund.

Media Release: We occasionally take photographs or videos of participants in Nanaimo Science programs. Photos may be used for Nanaimo Science general accounting and publicity purposes, to demonstrate milestones for granting agencies or shared with partner organizations. Personal information for minors is never provided in conjunction with images or other media. Media will never be sold to 3rd parties. If you do not want photos/video taken of yourself or your child, you will be given a chance to opt out during the registration process.

You acknowledge that information provided in this registration is correct, that you are the parent/guardian of the participant and/or are 19 years of age or older.
