Notes: We are thrilled to welcome you to our Galaxy program as we begin this exciting new season! As we get started next week, we want to share an overview of what to expect over the next eight weeks, ensuring that you and your athlete feel prepared and ready for all the fun ahead. Practice Start Dates: Friday / Sunday teams - Practices start THIS SUNDAY, 4/6 at 12pm Monday / Friday teams - Practices start MONDAY 4/7 at your scheduled practice time Monday / Wednesday teams - Practices start MONDAY 4/7 at your scheduled practice time Wednesday / Friday teams - Practices start WEDNESDAY 4/9 at your scheduled practice time Galaxy teams will be on break for the following practice dates: 4/13 (MONDAY) thru 4/20 (SUNDAY) 5/25 (MONDAY) We highly recommend that families download the Amilia Registration System App to access practice dates/times. Program Overview: Weeks 1, 2 and 3 – Skills Development We'll kick off with focused training sessions dedicated to mastering the core skills: passing, setting, serving, and hitting. Our goal is to help each athlete develop, refine, and strengthen these foundational skills. Weeks 4, and 5 – Team Development These weeks are all about building team spirit! We’ll start with a skills assessment to form balanced teams, and then focus on fostering teamwork, communication, and camaraderie. Weeks 6, 7, and 8 – Game Play In our final weeks, athletes will engage in game-like scenarios, positional-based training, and strategy sessions to prepare for the season-ending tournament. If you are a new Volleyball Academy Member, during Week 2, your athlete will receive your practice shirt, and a string bag backpack. Returning members should come to practice wearing their jersey starting with your first practice. After week 2, all Galaxy participants need to come to practice wearing their jersey along with appropriate athletic attire (shorts, spandex, or leggings and athletic shoes). For safety reasons, we do not allow athletes to participate in our programming if they are wearing crocs, boots, or fashion shoes. Additionally, shorts or leggings should provide adequate coverage, reaching at least the upper/mid-thigh. Your cooperation helps maintain a safe and focused environment for everyone! Additional practice shirts can be purchased at the front desk for $15 Helpful Tips for a Great Practice: - Bring plenty of water for 1.5 hours of activity - Wear knee pads for added protection - Have a healthy meal or snack beforehand - Take care of hygiene and bathroom needs before arriving Save the Date: Our season will conclude with a tournament on Saturday June 7th! We'll update your schedule as soon as details are finalized. EXCITING NEWS FOR THIS SEASON! For our Universal (Advanced) Middle School Girls and High School Girls Divisions, the winners will earn a bid/entry to play on Sunday, June 8th in our NVHL tournament. This is an exciting opportunity for our Galaxy teams to showcase their skills against other teams in our area. So, please hold that date on your calendar in case your child’s team wins their tournament. We are excited to be part of your child's athletic journey and are looking forward to an amazing Fall together in the Galaxy program!
