Description:

This workshop series is designed for adults (18+) who want to gain practical skills in basic clothing alterations. Whether you're a thrift store enthusiast, a vintage fashion lover, or simply someone who wants their clothes to fit better, this class will give you the tools to confidently modify garments at home. Attend one workshop to acquire a key alterations skill, or attend all to be able to complete the most common alternations. While we will not be sewing actual clothing items, we will demo techniques on scrap fabric. However, if you do have items that align with that workshop session’s theme, you are welcome to bring them!

In this class series you will learn the techniques to:

  • Workshop 1: Sew buttons and buttonholes, patch holes

  • Workshop 2: Hemming made simple: pants, dresses, skirts, and sleeves

  • Workshop 3: Take in elastic and non-elastic waists

  • Workshop 4: Change design elements; do’s and don’t when looking for clothes that could be altered

What’s included:

  • Sewing Machines (although feel free to bring your own)

  • Fabric scissors and cutting stations

  • Basic tools - pins, needles, chalk, etc. (Feel free to bring your own, too!)

Available spots: 2 out of 4

Price: $25.00 Taxes waived
