Description:
Instructor: Erin Gillespie Explore the evolution of painting through the eyes of the artists who have shaped—and continue to shape—the art world! In this new course, students will study the work of influential Masters from the late 19th century alongside the work of exciting Contemporary painters working today. Each week, Erin will introduce students to selected artists and their work, exploring what makes their paintings distinctive and influential. Students will be shown examples of these works and given weekly or biweekly painting assignments inspired by the artists being studied. Through hands-on painting assignments, students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of artistic approaches, techniques, and ideas. Rather than simply copying famous paintings, students will study the choices made by each artist and use those ideas as inspiration for developing their own work. You may explore elements such as color, composition, brushwork, subject matter, texture, and artistic expression, gaining a deeper appreciation for how painters from different eras approach their craft. From the bold, expressive work of artists such as Vincent van Gogh to the diverse approaches of contemporary painters, each class will offer a new source of inspiration and a chance to experiment with your own artistic voice. Dates: Wednesdays, September 16th - November 4th Time: 12:30pm-2:30pm Cost: $340 Skill Level: All skill levels welcome—from absolute beginners to seasoned creators! Mediums: Open to any medium (painting or drawing). Supplies: Please remember to bring your own art supplies to class. Questions? Feel free to reach out to Erin directly. 🌸Painting the Masters and Contemporary Painters
