ONTARIO CHEERLEADING FEDERATION AND TEAM CANADA MEMBERSHIP

Parents/adult athletes must self-register their athlete and pay for the OCF and Cheer Canada membership once registered with Scorpions Niagara. Membership is vital to ensure the continuation of our Sport moving forward in Ontario as a recognized sport and to attain the benefits of a governing body. Parents can register at Cheer-reg.com. Membership is required to be a member of any Scorpions Niagara team member. Recreational athletes are the only exception.

WAIVER AND RELEASE

I do hereby acknowledge that I/my child intends to participate in one or more athletic endeavors’ while a member of one of Super Cheer Inc., cheerleading or tumbling programs. I also acknowledge that I/my child will be doing so of my/his/her own free will.

I understand that the coaches/advisors of Super Cheer Inc. are trained staff. I further acknowledge that these staff members will behave prudently in the instruction of cheerleading and tumbling skills in an effort to avoid accident and/or injuries. I realize that participation in these endeavors’ entails the risk of injury to the participants. I accept this risk regardless of the nature of the injury and/or the athletic endeavor in which I /my child will participate. I acknowledge that the term “athletic” endeavor as used herein includes any cheerleading, dance, drills, stunts, and choreography jumps and gymnastics activities of any kind.

I also waive and absolve Super Cheer Inc., the owners, the coaches, staff, advisors, sponsors, parent volunteers, or other volunteers of any of the venues in which we practice or perform, compete, demo or participate, or any one or more of them or their executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors or assigns of any and all liability and responsibility.

I understand that each participant is responsible for his or her own personal health, medical, dental, chiropractic or orthopedic and accident/therapeutic insurance coverage. I, my heirs, executor, and administration, intending to be legally bound, do hereby waive, release and forever discharge any and all rights and claims for damage which I/my child may have or may hereafter accrue to me/my child against Super Cheer Inc. the owners, coaches, staff, advisors, sponsors, parent volunteers, other volunteers, of any of the venues in which we practice or perform, compete, demo or participate for any damages which maybe sustained or suffered by me/my child in connection with my association or participation in, or arising out of travel to/and/or return from any cheerleading related or tumbling related site or activity affiliated with Super Cheer Inc.

I agree to all terms and agreements stated herein.

TEAM REQUIREMENTS

Athletes on competitive, travel teams:

Travel for the competitive teams is not optional. If your athlete cannot travel parents must sign up their athlete for local teams. If parents advise their athlete cannot travel or attend said trip; such athlete will be automatically moved to a local team.

Athletes will be required to wear practice gear while away on trips/competitions.

Teams will be required to pay additional trip fees for teams that are travelling “away” together.

All trip deposits, payments are non-refundable. If the athlete quits, is injured or ejected from the team the parent will still be responsible for full payment of the trip cost.

All trip costs are calculated by estimating the full cost of the trip including coaches’ fees and divided by the number of athletes on the team.

Trip costs are not broken down or itemized but are all-inclusive estimates based on such items including but not limited to transportation fees, entrance fees, hotel, coaches’ meals/expenses, tolls, wages, administration costs and applicable Taxes and exchange rates.

World’s athletes will be required to travel and stay together as a team. Worlds fees are calculated per team and divided by members. Costs are not broken down or itemized as we are a for profit organization.

Athletes missing practices 2 weeks prior to a competition will either be removed or replaced for the upcoming competition and will still be responsible for their competition fees as well as their fill-ins competition fees. Athletes missing a bid competition maybe removed from the team at the discretion of the coach.

All “travel teams” will travel to an away competition, which may incur additional fees. Extra fees will be released once the Competition Schedule has been released so parents can prepare and book off their holidays.

When competiing out of town parents understand and agree that competing and keeping their athlete in top shape to compete takes priority over vacation time. Athltes must get adequate rest and down time to compete at their best.

ALL ATHLETES:

All athletes are required to wear their current club t-shirt to all competitions. If you do not have one or lost it another must be purchased/ordered as soon as possible to ensure the club has stock.

Athletes must remain with the team while competing at venues and will be released to parents when head coach is done with the team. Keeping athletes together makes in easier for staff to keep athletes safe and accounted for.

Parents are not permitted in the practice gym unless requested by their coach.

Parents are not permitted on the competition floor unless requested by their coach.

If parents need assistance transporting their athlete please advise us at least three weeks in advance so we can assist.

All teams except U8 may be competing in both Canada and the USA (only if it is deemed safe to do so by our Government and by our governing body OCF and Cheer Canada and by club owners). Additional Competition fees for all teams will be collected In September/October once the schedule has been set. Competitions, whether virtual or in person are not optional events.

Athletes may be required to have valid passports to cross the border for competitions.

As a parent or adult athlete in signing this document I understand the financial and time commitments I am making to the Scorpions Niagara.

By checking this I agree that I have read and understand my obligations as set out above as a parent and as an athlete.

CLUB POLICIES:

It is parents responsbility to ensure we have a proper, up to date email address for you and your athlete

Certain holidays and breaks are observed throughtout the calendar year. Monthly calendars are distributed for information.

Coaches may periodically give athletes the day off following competition dates in order for athletes to rest; there is no “compensation” for these days off. Additionally the club will be closed for various competitions and staff may be required to take these dates off or dates prior to in order to travel. There is no compensation for these “off days” or practices cancelled due to weather. Yearly fee structures are designed with these anticipated closures in mind.

FUNDRAISING:

Club-wide fundraising will be available this year towards uniforms and costs. All fundraising monies must be used by April 1st, of the following year registered. Monies not used are distributed back to Super Cheer to be used for gym supplies.

Fundraising money is not paid out if not used towards Scorpions fees, clothing, clinics, etc.

CLUB POLICIES:

The gym is for athletes and coaches only. Parents, family members, friends, and/or siblings may not be in the gym without the permission of an owner or coach on duty. Athletes are not permitted in the gym without a senior coach present. The gym will remain closed to parents until the Covid pandemic is over.

Food is not allowed in the gym area. Water only please.

Athletes should not bring valuables to the gym. Scorpions’ is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please keep minimal items in the gym.

Please be aware of our injury/return to practice Concussion Policy as posted on our website.

Vaping, and/or smoking in, around or before practices is not permitted. Use of alcohol, drugs or other substances are not permissible by athletes before or during practices or the night before competitions.

Parents are not permitted to smoke/vape within 50 feet of the front door of the Scorpions building.

Each athlete and parents who are part of Scorpions Niagara cheerleading are expected and required to uphold certain standards when representing our club via social media and at events we attend. Posting negative comments is unacceptable and we reserve the right to remove such comments as well as you from our boards and/or dismiss your athlete from our program. Negativity is not tolerated or necessary.

Parents and athletes are not permitted to post negative information regarding our club, our athletes, staff or policies, including email/text conversations at any time or they will be asked to leave without refund. Additionally parents could be held potentially financially responsible for punitive damages and remuneration through the legal court system as necessary.

Members are required to act as good sports at all times whether via social media or at competitions and/or events. We set a professional and positive example for your athlete and would expect the same from our parents.

Athletes are not permitted to attend alternative cheerleading clubs camps, clinics, classes, tumbling classes or privates, or events while a member of Scorpions Cheerleading. Tumbling sessions at local gymnastics facilities are appropriate.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES/CHOREOGRAPHY FOR TEAMS:

During summer month’s practices are mandatory however, the schedules reflects a lighter weight (Usually ½ of the normal schedule) to accommodate for family vacations.

In September all practices are mandatory. Athletes are expected to attend all practices, competitions, exhibitions, and events planned for their teams.

Please be advised absences are detrimental to the team therefore if members are not able to attend practice they are required to advise the coach in advance as to the date and reason for their absence. All athletes must follow the attendance policy, except recreational classes. Parents are advised to speak to coaches on these levels for missed practices/classes.

UNACCEPTABLE EXCUSES FOR MISSING PRACTICE:

Birthday parties, dances, family gatherings, Ill, but not contagious, Transportation issues, other sporting activities

ACCEPTABLE REASONS FOR MISSING PRACTICE: Senior/University/College level exams, Death in the family, Sick/contagious/vomiting/fever (may require doctor’s note), Approved absence in advance - family trips out of country/religious observances (i.e. Communion)

Attendance is crucial to our gyms success. Athletes that continue to miss practices may have gym privileges revoked and/or removed from the program and/or transferred to a local team.

Athletes missing practices without notifying coaches may be removed from upcoming events and/or competitions. Roles in routine could also be minimalized.

Attendance is mandatory at all competitions including away competitions. Athletes are expected to arrive between 90-120 minutes prior to performance times. Athletes must stay for awards in full uniform and be good sports during awards’ ceremonies.

If an athlete is ill but not contagious they are required to attend practices. If they are contagious and are required to miss a competition parents are advised to notify their coach IMMEDIATELY.

If an athlete is injured the athletes are required to attend practices while recovering to learn the routine elements while watching practice. If the injury is limiting to their mobility or recovery (concussions) athletes will be permitted to miss competitions while- recovering.

All athletes are required to text or call their head coach regarding absences or lateness. Members are responsible for being on time for practices, competitions and other team outings.

Summer practices are mandatory unless the athlete is out of town on vacation.

Athletes are not permitted to miss summer choreography or a fee of $200.00 - $300.00 will be incurred for a coach to learn your spot and take the time to teach you.

I have read, understand and agree to the Financial Commitment and Club Policies, Attendance Policies, and Social Media Policies being a part of the Scorpions Niagara aka Super Cheer cheerleading club.

REFUND POLICY:

1. The registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE (this is the first payment). There is a $100.00 administration fee applicable when an athlete quits a team whether competitive, prep or novice at any time. Monthly fees are non-refundable until the month after the athlete quits a team.

2. The uniform, cheer socks and bow deposit and fee are non-refundable.

3. Competition fees are non-refundable. Competition fees will be collected in September or October once the competition schedule has been released. Competitions whether virtual or in-person are not optional.

4. Any clothing purchased is non–refundable.

5. There is a $45.00 NSF charge for cheques returned NSF, or credit cards that have been declined.

6. There is a $45.00 LATE FEE for all fees received two weeks late.

7. Fees for athletes that quit or are injured are non-transferable between family members.

8. Fees are not pro-rated if an athlete falls ill or is injured or misses practice. If an athlete fails to attend practices and the parent fails to contact the gym at scorpionsniagara@gmail.com with an explanation, said athlete will be deemed to have quit and no refunds will be issued.

9. No refunds of used fees, competition fees or trip expenses and/or deposits will be allowed; nor if athlete is terminated by head coach for unacceptable behavior.

10. Trip deposits and payments are non-refundable and still payable if the athlete quits.

11. If the gym is forced to close due to COVID 19, by the government of Ontario, all monthly payments will cease until permitted to re-open. If a parent pays in full they will be refunded fees for full months closed only, not partial closures.

12. There are no refunds for camps, clinics or short term/recreational programs unless cancelled by the club. Makeups or pro-rated fees will be refunded.

I understand my email will be shared with Event Producers in order to obtain paper-free waivers and must be completed.

I hereby grant permission to licensed hospitals and/or health care staff members to administer immediate medical treatment as deemed necessary to me/my child should she/he be injured during a Scorpions event at which she/he is participating. Further, I understand that I am responsible for payment of expenses incurred relating to my own son’s/daughters medical treatment.

I have read and understand the concussion policy outlined on Scorpions website and agree to disclose any medical information to the owners

I have read and understand and agree with the financial and team obligations of becoming a member of the Scorpions

Niagara Cheerleading Club; otherwise known as Super Cheer Inc., I also understand and agree to the refund policy, club policies, trip policies, attendance and payment obligations.
