Description:
Learn from Southern BC's top horticulture professionals from the comfort of your home. The Home Gardening Series, a collaboration between the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association and the Vancouver Chapter of the B.C. Master Gardeners Association, offers a curated selection of gardening topics from the Master Gardener Basic Training curriculum. Designed for both beginners and experienced gardeners, this series provides current gardening knowledge without the commitment of the broader Master Gardener program. Participants will attend 8 online sessions covering key principles, spanning a range of gardening topics (see list below). Recordings are available for streaming for one month following each session. 2026 Schedule Tue Jan. 20 | 6:30 pm – 9 pm: Soil, Growing Media, Nutrition For detailed session descriptions, click here. Important Details: Your contact: learn@vandusen.org for questions about the series, technical issues related to the online sessions, and links to session recordings. The Home Gardening Series offers a sampler of the full Master Gardener Basic Training curriculum. It is designed for hobbyists and gardening enthusiasts. As a participant, you will join the Master Gardener Basic Training Program students and mentors in 8 selected online sessions. This is not the full Master Gardener certification program; it is a chance to audit a selection of sessions. For the full Master Gardener Basic Training Program, apply here. Discount Opportunity: Want to deepen your learning? Completion of the Home Gardening Series will qualify you for a discount on the full Master Gardener Basic Training Program should you decide to take the full certificate course in the future. Resources: Home Gardening Series participants will receive a link to the Pacific Northwest Gardener’s Handbook and a list of select gardening resources by topic; however, speakers' slides are not provided. Master Gardener students are learning from core course materials that may be referred to from time to time. If you are interested, these can be purchased individually from the list of sources to be provided. You will receive a welcoming email within 48 hours before the first session, including further instructions and a resource list.
