Description:
Join our seven-week class and discover the art of hand-building to create both functional and sculptural pieces.
Meeting Tuesdays from 7:15 pm to 9:45 pm, this course is perfect for all experience levels—whether you're just starting or refining your skills. Students will create unique pieces like cups, bowls, mugs, vases, lidded jars, planters, plates, and more. You’ll learn to make and add features like handles and lids and explore a range of decoration and sculpting techniques to give each piece a personal touch. With open studio hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, you'll have 84 additional hours to experiment and practice outside of class. Along the way, you’ll develop essential skills in reclaiming, wedging, and storing clay, helping you gain a strong foundation in ceramics. Participants will also learn reclaiming, wedging clay, and proper artwork storage.
This course can be repeated as needed.
Note: Designed for ages 16 and above. A 25-pound bag of clay, glazes, and kiln firings are included in the course. Attempt to utilize open studio hours to continue to practice your skills.
