Andrew Weissmann returns to the Plateau to discuss (1) the Trump administration’s transformation of the relationship between the President and federal law enforcement, including the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security, and (2) the decision to utilize the National Guard and perhaps the U.S. Military for domestic law enforcement purposes. In addition to discussing the immediate events of the summer, Andrew will discuss his new book to be published in May, “Liar’s Kingdom: How to Stop Trump’s Deceit and Save America.” The book proposes structural changes in American law and institutions to combat political deception. Andrew will be accompanied by a special guest (TBA).

Andrew Weissmann is a Professor of Practice at New York University School of Law. He served as a lead prosecutor in Robert S. Mueller’s Special Counsel’s Office and as Chief of the Fraud Section in the U.S. Department of Justice. He is the author of “Where Law Ends: Inside the Mueller Investigation.” He also served as General Counsel for the FBI, Director of the Enron Task Force, and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for 15 years in the Eastern District of New York, where he served as the Chief of the Criminal Division. He is a frequent MS NOW news contributor on matters related to federal and state prosecutions of high-profile political figures. He and Mary McCord are co-hosts of the podcast “Main Justice.
