People who are in Grades 8 through 11 right now are invited to apply to be part of YouthCrew for the coming summer. In YouthCrew you'll spend time with Camp Spirit campers who are 6 to 11 years old to develop your leadership skills and learn about working with children. YouthCrew members engage directly with the children at camp. ​

YouthCrew are an important part of our leadership team.  YouthCrew are asked to be attentive to keeping the campers safe, supporting hands-on the activities of 3 to 4 campers, and ensuring the campers are having an amazing week at Camp Spirit. The work of YouthCrew requires them to be fully present and engaged for the entire camp day, and to be committed to being part of the team. Please consider if you are ready for this work!

The YouthCrew Sign-Up Application will ask you describe leadership experiences that you may have, and share about your passion for volunteering with children. Leadership experience is not required. YouthCrew is often the first focused setting where Youth are trained and supported in practicing leadership skills!  You will also be asked for 2 references. 

YouthCrew training for 2025 will be IN PERSON, OVERNIGHT at Camp Pringle on Vancouver Island. START: Friday, June 20, after dinner and END: Sunday, June 22 after lunch.  Transportation, accommodation, and meals are included.  IF YOU REQUIRE A FLIGHT (ie you do not live in the Lower Mainland or on Vancouver Island), your application must be in by May 1, 2025 for us to cover the cost of your flight.  At this time, there is no other option for training being offered.

As a YouthCrew member, your responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with a small leadership team
• Maintaining safe practices at all times
• Supporting and caring for children with love and respect
• Gathering and preparing resources and materials for each day’s program experience
• Participating in the leadership of opening and closing worship gatherings
• Participating in set up, staff debrief and feedback, and room and supply clean up each day
• Providing hands on leadership in a variety of ways including:

                 o Sharing bible stories 
                 o Creating Visual art activities and sharing them with children
                 o Exploring Science with children
                 o Leading games in various settings 
                 o Singing, creating dramas

Notes : YouthCrew training will be held: IN PERSON, June 20-22, 2025 OVERNIGHT at Camp Pringle on Vancouver Island. Attendance at training is REQUIRED to be part of YouthCrew.
