Description :
Glass combing is one of the most dramatic and mesmerizing fused glass techniques — and one of the most dependent on timing, heat, and experience. In this extended four-week block, members will both participate in and observe live glass combing sessions using our dedicated combing kiln. Molten glass is manipulated with stainless steel rakes and specialized tools while hot, creating flowing rivers of color and movement that feel alive. Because we work with a single combing kiln, sessions are structured to maximize learning through hands-on experience and observation. This is a high-energy, high-impact technique that deepens your understanding of molten glass behavior. You’ll learn: Heat windows and timing for successful combing Tool techniques and movement styles How color behaves when molten How to plan for controlled unpredictability How to reuse combed slabs in future projects Projects may include: Dramatic statement slabs Abstract panels Components for future fused work Pricing Includes Two live combing runs Observation + discussion time Kiln scheduling & prep Results review and reuse planning About Kiln Club: We are a Project Club where fused glass artists gather, fire it up, figure it out and learn something new each month. Looking for a fun, social, and creative way to explore new fused glass techniques? Join our community of glass lovers for monthly fused glass projects — think book club, but with color combos, kilns, and creative sparks.
Each month, we choose a project for the group to complete together. We don't portray we know what we are doing — just willing to lead the way by picking the technique, sharing a tutorial or handout, and providing the needed supplies. We’ll meet weekly throughout to work on the project side by side, ask questions, swap tips, and cheer each other on.
Spots are limited to 8. Whether you're trying something totally new or helping others learn your favorite technique, this is your space to experiment, connect, and grow as an artist.
