The Black Tusk Alpine Learning Centre at Brohm Ridge is pleased to be hosting its Wilderness First Aid (WAFA). Instruction by Canadian Outdoor Med. The Black tusk clubhouse provide a unique learning environment, its location at 6000 feet maximizes field time, interspersed with classroom, and evening discussions. Engaging with other sledders, trading skills, ideas and stories makes the course fun and helps to reinforce knowledge. Enjoy chef prepared, dinner, lunch and breakfast.

Industry recognition: Recognized by PMBIA for mountain bike coach certification, and various other guiding groups. Possibility to add on an OFA1 certification with an additional short online module on commercial rules and regulations, and an online exam. Cost 49.95. 

This 40-hour wilderness advanced first aid course focuses on the basics of managing life and limb threats in winter remote environments, with a focus on the injuries common to various sports such as sleddin, ski touring, climbing and alpinism. 

The training also includes prevention and treatment of common environmental problems like hypothermia and heat-related illnesses, as well as covering common medical emergencies, choking, drowning and includes a CPR-C certification from the LifeSaving Society.

Delivery: 20h Online Learning and 20h face to face (2 days)

Transport to and from the course, personal clothing and equipment including your sled.

You must provide: overnight gear - warm sleeping bag, pillow, indoor shoes, Saturday lunch, beverages, snacks (some gear can be transported via the snow cat)
