6 WEEK CLASS

Collage is a very inclusive medium that incorporates a multitude of materials, diverse techniques and strong compositional skills. In this class we will begin each day or session with a warm-up collage exercise then work to expand these skills into more individual artworks that reflect each participant’s interests and love of found materials using other media such as watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil and/or fiber.  Beyond the warm-up exercises, techniques will include layering with transparency, integrating imagery, and incorporating found objects, all with an emphasis on composition.

3 HOUR WORKSHOP

“Travel” to “south of the border” and experience the tradition of celebrating “The Days of the Dead> Dia de los Muertos”, which occurs every year on November 1 and 2. Create artworks inspired by the culture and music of Mexico: Decorate a skull made out of sugar, create Sugar Skull masks, Papel Picados: cut paper, and Paper skeletons. Listen to some Mexico/Latin America inspired music, learn a few words in Spanish.

6 WEEK CLASS

2 HOUR WORKSHOP

In this exciting workshop you'll craft three unique glass pendants! Perfect for all skill levels, you'll have access to all the supplies, tools, and glass needed to bring your designs to life. 6 WEEK CLASS

This class will give the student hands-on experience in the different methods and techniques of applying images, colorants, and other surface embellishments to fabric. The finished fabric can be incorporated into quilts, wearables, home furnishings such as pillows, wall hangings and other unique projects. Experience the different methods of applying fabric dyes and textile paints including:  block printing, stamping, hand painting, mono printing, tie dye and silkscreen printing. Use the silkscreen as a drawing and printing tool.  Experiment with open screen monoprinting and hand cut stencil methods.

6 WEEK CLASS

Paint a silk scarf…silkscreen print, hand paint, and stamp fabric, t-shirts and more. This class will give the student hands-on experience in the different methods and techniques of applying images, colorants, and other surface embellishments to fabric. The finished fabric can be incorporated into quilts, wearables, home furnishings such as pillows, wall hangings and other unique projects. Experience the different methods of applying fabric dyes and textile paints including block printing, stamping, hand painting, silk painting, mono printing, and silkscreen printing. Use the silkscreen as a drawing and printing tool. Experiment with open screen monoprinting and hand cut stencil methods. For students repeating the class, they are welcome to challenge themselves by repeating a pattern or designing a multi colored print!

6 WEEK CLASS

Join experienced multimedia instructor Judy in sharing the studio space with other artists while working in the medium of your choice. Open critiques and encouragement will be offered. Brainstorm ideas to climb out of the creative rut. Bring your current project to class to finish or start something new.

2 DAY WORKSHOP

In this workshop, we will explore monotype printing using water soluble and oil based materials. Students will combine these methods of printing with collage, to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Students will be highly encouraged to experiment with different methods and materials, allowing them to truly explore the endless possibilities that this medium has to offer. Open to all levels!

Julia Sorboro is an artist and printmaker from Stow, Ohio. In 2018, She received her BA specializing in Printmaking and Photography from Kent State University. She is currently living and working in Cleveland, OH.
