Book illustrator and graphic artist John Plymak is excited to offer this new class, which will explore 3 popular drawing topics: Still-life, perspective drawing, and the portrait. Graphite and colored pencil will be the media used, and each topic will be covered for 2 classes. Each class will contain a worksheet for students to keep, that contains specific vocabulary, tips, and thoughts about that week's subject.

Illustrator/graphic artist John Plymak is excited to offer this 2-hour introduction to oil pastels, which have unique properties similar to oil painting, in a convenient and portable medium. We’ll look at a number of techniques for layering, blending, and controlling shading with this medium before working on a finished drawing together. Students will receive a worksheet to keep that reviews all concepts, tips, and vocabulary. Students must bring their own supplies.

Campers will vote on which furry friend they want to draw and receive step by step instructions on their illustrations.

5 DAY CAMP

Paint a silk scarf…silkscreen print, hand paint, and stamp fabric, t-shirts and more. This class will give the student hands-on experience in the different methods and techniques of applying images, colorants, and other surface embellishments to fabric. The finished fabric can be incorporated into quilts, wearables, home furnishings such as pillows, wall hangings and other unique projects. Experience the different methods of applying fabric dyes and textile paints including block printing, stamping, hand painting, silk painting, mono printing, and silkscreen printing. Use the silkscreen as a drawing and printing tool. Experiment with open screen monoprinting and hand cut stencil methods. All materials provided!

Want to learn to make your drawings look more realistic? This is the camp for you! Campers will use graphite to learn how to break complex forms into basic shapes and draw realistically. Campers will try their hand at grid drawing and drawing from life all to enhance their technical skills.

From cave paintings to Van Gogh, campers will be learning from the famous artists and works of the past while also learning a variety of new skills and mediums. Focusing mainly on painting and drawing, there will also be opportunities for multi-media works. The fundamentals of art history and art will be learned together!

Explore the world of cartooning and illustration! Learn basic drawing and illustration skills while
diving into character design and world-building. Campers will leave with their very own comics
and illustrations!

4 WEEK CLASS

Join illustrator/graphic artist John Plymak for this introduction to the popular drawing medium of colored pencils. The class will cover strategies for layering and blending colors to build shading, as well as choosing a palette based on the color wheel. The class will also cover traditional drawing concepts, including design, composition, proportion, and measuring. John’s classes always encourage discussion about such varied topics as art presentation, famous artists in history, entering shows, and critiquing what students are working on at home. Each class will also contain a specific focus that's included in a weekly worksheet for students to keep.
