This class is based on a program called Unlimited Café, and it is tailored to international students learning to converse in English. Learners are encouraged to talk about their ideas, their everyday lives, and the world around them. Games are included in the classes to ensure that the students are having “fun” while learning.  

Instructor: Wendy Lawler

Wendy was a teacher of adults for seven years at Pearson Adult Career Centre in the Administrative Professional Program and Accounting. While at PACC, she taught a variety of English courses including: Quality of Written English, Proofreading, Business Correspondence, and Job Search. She is very passionate about teaching adults, and in her years of educating the public and students, she has cultivated a strong ability to build positive relationships with learners of varying communication styles and from diverse backgrounds.

Ce cours est basé sur un programme appelé Unlimited Café, et il est adapté aux étudiants internationaux qui apprennent à converser en anglais. Les apprenants sont encouragés à parler de leurs idées, de leur vie quotidienne et du monde qui les entoure. Des jeux sont inclus dans les cours pour s'assurer que les étudiants s'amusent tout en apprenant.

Notes: Participants failing to attend a Community Initiatives Program for 2 consecutive weeks and have not notified the coordinator in advance, will have their registration automatically forfeited. It is the participants' responsibility to contact the Community Initiatives Program Coordinator by email (outreach@wiwc.ca) prior to or immediately after the absence, should they wish to maintain their registration. Upon review of the cause of the absence (illness, travel, unforeseen family emergency etc.), the Centre will decide to maintain or not the registered participant in the program. Les participants qui ne participent pas à un programme d'initiatives communautaires pendant deux semaines consécutives et qui n'ont pas prévenu le coordinateur à l'avance verront leur inscription automatiquement annulée. Il incombe aux participants de contacter le coordinateur du programme d'initiatives communautaires par courrier électronique (outreach@wiwc.ca) avant ou immédiatement après l'absence, s'ils souhaitent maintenir leur inscription. Après examen de la cause de l'absence (maladie, voyage, urgence familiale imprévue, etc.), le Centre décidera de maintenir ou non le participant inscrit au programme. There is no class the week of March 3rd to 8th. Il n'y a pas de cours la semaine du 3 au 8 mars.
