Discovery Days at Mylan Park are special youth-focused experiences that turn preselected Monongalia County School closure days into meaningful opportunities for growth, wellness, and connection.
Discovery Days do not take place on snow days or early dismissal days.
These days provide a safe, supportive place for children when school is officially closed, on the designated calendar days, ensuring they aren’t left home alone, but instead have access to positive activities, caring adults, and a structured environment.
Discovery Days combines recreational opportunities with prevention and resilience-based programming, creating an empowering space where young people can stay active, build skills, and strengthen healthy decision-making.
Participants will also receive free food and snacks. Please email us at discoverydays@mylanpark.org if your child has any dietary restrictions so we can help ensure every child is supported, energized, and ready to engage throughout the day.
By integrating physical activity with evidence-based prevention strategies, Discovery Days help youth develop wellness, confidence, and resilience, while giving families peace of mind.
