Description:
Poke it! Hook it! Punch it! Latch it! Tuft it!
"Rug Making 101" will explore how to hook a rug, as well as other rug making techniques including punch needle, latch hook, Scandinavian rhea knotting, and using a pokie.
Old homes were cold and drafty so resourceful people found clever ways to make rugs with odds and ends of leftover fabric and yarn. They also discovered that rugmaking techniques could be adapted to enliven household linens and even clothing. Now it's your opportunity to breath new life into these old skills!
In this action-packed workshop, we will explore the classic techniques with a wide variety of tools, and examine a few historic examples for inspiration. There are no hard and fast "rules" and your individual style will blossom into contemporary products and art pieces.
A piece of basic backing material will be provided and there will be multiple tools for you to experiment with.
