Workshop: "Bird Migration, Seasonal Changes, and Creating Bird-Friendly Spaces"

Join us for an engaging and educational session focused on the wonders of bird migration, seasonal changes, and how to transform your own spaces into bird-friendly havens. Whether you’re an avid birdwatcher or new to the world of birds, this workshop offers a perfect blend of knowledge, discussion, and hands-on exploration.

We’ll begin with an insightful discussion about the fascinating migration patterns of birds and the impact of seasonal changes on their behaviors. Learn how to create environments that attract and support local and migratory birds, from planting native plants to setting up bird baths and feeders.

After the discussion, we’ll head out on a birding hike, where we’ll put our knowledge into practice. With the help of bird identification sheets and birding apps like Merlin, you’ll be guided in identifying various bird species along the hike, enhancing your birdwatching experience.

What to Expect:

  • Interactive Discussion: Learn about bird migration, the challenges birds face during seasonal changes, and ways to create bird-friendly spaces in your yard or local community.
  • Bird-Friendly Tips: Discover easy ways to support local wildlife, from choosing the right plants to offering safe resting spots for migrating birds.
  • Birding Hike: Head outdoors for a guided birdwatching hike, where you’ll use ID sheets and birding apps like Merlin to identify different species along the way.
  • Guided Learning: Experienced birders and naturalists will provide tips and help you practice identifying birds, their calls, and behaviors.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a deeper understanding of bird migration, practical ways to create bird-friendly spaces, and the skills to confidently identify birds in the wild. Whether you're enhancing your backyard or simply learning to appreciate the beauty of birds, this workshop offers something for every nature lover!
