Location: Small Downstairs Classroom (OAC Building) | 2185 SW Park Place, Portland, OR, 97205

Description:

Come escape into a world of plants, flowers, berries, and grasses! In this class, students will paint and draw botanical subjects using watercolors, fudenosuke brush pens, and pencils to create both simple and complex compositions. You’ll capture the details of single plant specimens as well as create free-form floral arrangements, autumnal wreaths, and imaginative plant compositions. The class focuses on making simple, gestural strokes that reflect the natural movement of plants, along with suggestive marks that support focal points and create a sense of flow. Using brushes to pick up and blend color directly on the paper, students will create elegant, expressive botanical artwork while learning to observe plant growth, identify details, and render them accurately.
