Description:

This month, we are focusing on plant and animal subjects. For each activity we will sketch, then paint. 

Myles Brown (he/him) will give a live painting demonstration, then guide participants in painting an animal. You are welcome to bring a reference photo if you would like.

We will also sketch in the garden at The ArtsCenter. Bring a sketchbook or use one of ours!

About the Guest Artist

My name is Myles Brown, and I am an artist and designer from North Carolina. My art is influenced by mythology and vintage animation. I am the CEO of JUST A CRAZY ILLUSTRATOR LLC. I have art in galleries including CoLab Raleigh and NC Crafts Gallery. My art is represented by Drinking Gourd Gallery. It has also been sold at Green Road Community and Triangle Wine Company. I graduated from Wake Technical Community College with a degree in Business Administration: Marketing and a certificate in Advertising and Graphic Design.

About the Instructor

Shady Kimzey is an independent artist and creative entrepreneur from Raleigh with over 10 years of experience in teaching and facilitation. They work with non-profits, government agencies, and businesses such as The Carrboro ArtsCenter, Orange County Arts Commission, Artspace, and the City of Raleigh.

Shady Kimzey's classes focus on beginners exploring new skills and ideas. The goal is for participants to express themselves and explore their process of making art.
